Located
between Lynn Ary Park and the Coastal Trail are the four
ball fields of Anchorage West Little League. This is
a special and beautiful location located right on the
Turnagain Arm. On a clear day, players can look to
the north and see Mt. McKinley.
Each spring, through the summer season and again in the
fall, AWLL volunteers spend many hundreds of hours
grooming the fields, maintaining the fences and keeping
the fields clean.
Though maintained by AWLL volunteers, the fields are not
exclusively used for Little League baseball. The
large fields make for a popular place for Frisbee leagues,
pickup football and baseball games, and other outdoor
games. The fenced area makes for a popular dog
walking and training area for area residents. In
fact, and in a large part because of the work of AWLL
volunteers, the AWLL ball fields are a popular community
resource that sees nearly continuous use. |
